Longest Skywalk in Jakarta Opens to Public Soon

The Kebayoran Lama Skywalk construction has been completed and is ready to be inaugurated shortly.

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Head, Hari Nugroho said that Skywalk Kebayoran Lama was ready structurally, functionally, and other supporting facilities

He claimed that the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk, whose construction began on March 23, 2022 and was completed on November 30, 2022, is the longest skywalk in Jakarta reaching 450 meters.

"Kebayoran Lama Skywalk is the longest in Jakarta with a total of 450 meters, compared to the Poins Square Skywalk in Lebak Bulus which is 300 meters long," he expressed, Wednesday (1/18).

He explained this Skywalk facilitates integration between modes of transportation because it connects the Kebayoran Lama commuter line KRL Station with Velbak Transjakarta Bus Stop (Corridor 13) and Pasar Kebayoran Lama Transjakarta Bus Stop (Corridor 8).

He went on to say that its current use is for integration between commuter line train users at Kebayoran Lama Station and Velbak Transjakarta Bus Stop.

As for the Transjakarta bus stop, the Pasar Kebayoran Lama Corridor 8 would function shortly after the bus stop had been revitalized.

“At the moment, it is not yet open to the public. The skywalk can only be used by residents after it is inaugurated," he uttered.

He added the Skywalk itself supports the creation of a well-integrated urban transportation system, facilitates mobility, and movement of community activities, and diverts people from using private vehicles to public transportation.

"Hopefully, its existence can be useful and used by residents, especially users of public transportation," he hoped.

Here are the technical data and facilities available at the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk:

- Total length of 452 meters

- Equipped with three lifts with one-ton capacity that can serve 8-10 people (disabled, pregnant women, and elderly)

- Equipped with two escalator units to facilitate access to the 18-meter-long Velbak stop - 13 units of surveillance cameras (CCTV) scattered along Skywalk to maintain user safety and comfort

- 200 LED lights and 215 RGB lights that can add aesthetic value at night
